Remember To Have Fun

When going into a profession that you are really passionate about, especially a creative one, it’s important to remember why it brings you joy. This is something I’ve struggled with recently. It can be easy to lose yourself in the difficulties to try and succeed.

A big flaw of mine is that I often get locked up or frozen when trying to take those beginning steps on any project or goal. Even with this blog, I got distracted and worried about being good at it and so I stopped posting. The big problem with this mind set is unfortunately the very true motto that practice makes perfect. However, more than that you should realize that if you’re doing something you enjoy then it does not in fact have to be perfect.

Now obviously when building a career there are always going to be moments where you have to prove yourself. There will always be steps and progress that you have to make in order to get where you want to be. What should not be forgotten is that in these beginning parts/years mistakes are not only ok but healthy. Not being good at something and persevering anyway should be the ultimate goal, especially when it’s something you really enjoy.

Now this may seem a little morbid but the fact of the matter is that one day we are all going to be dead. Sorry but it’s true. My advice is to treat everything a little more lightly. Know that it’s going to be ok and don’t spend the whole time killing yourself before you’re actually dead. Make a stupid video, write badly and keep on creating.
